WIST,September 19-- The opening ceremony for the 2023 international students was held on the morning of Tuesday. Narongchai Charoenruchisap, director of Planning and Cooperation Department under the Office of Education of Thailand Vocational Education Commission, Siravit Thanasetthawong, director of Suratthani Technical College (STB), vice director of STB Jutamat Muangdee, Sub Lt. Junyar Pabu, consultant of Banphai Industrial and Community Education College, Pongsak Saetung, director of Planning & Cooperation Department of Intrachai Commercial College, department leaders and teacher representatives from STB attended the opening ceremony. WIST's president Wei Shaofeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee Chen Changjiang, leaders and teacher representatives from the School of International Cultural Exchange, relevant functional departments, and the School of Business and Trade (SBT) also attended the opening ceremony. Chen Changjiang presided over the opening ceremony.


Wei, on behalf of all staff and students WIST, extended a warm welcome to the 2023 cohort of Thai students and delivered gratitude to the Vocational Education Commission of Thailand and STC for their attention to the ceremony. Wei reviewed the cooperation between WIST and STC since 2019 and hoped that the two colleges would continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and promote the mutual development of vocational education in China and Thailand. He noted the Thai students enrolled in 2023 should integrate into the WIST family quickly, make full use of its abundant resources, achieve academic success, and become friendly messengers of cultural exchanges between the two country.

Charoenruchisap expressed gratitude to WIST for its support to the Office of Thailand Vocational Education Commission in his speech. He emphasized that engaging in international vocational education cooperation is beneficial for mutual learning and enables Thai teachers and students to meet international standards in terms of skills. He also highlighted the importance of Chinese as one of the significant global languages and urged Thai students to take advantage of the opportunity to study in China, learn Chinese well, and enhance their vocational skills.

Thanasetthawong delivered a speech and expressed his gratitude to WIST for providing opportunities to the students of STC. He said he is willing to further enhance comprehensive cooperation between the two collleges.

Zhao Liang, dean ofSBT, stated in her speech that since 2019a second cohort of Thai students joins SBT today. The faculty of SBT have been dedicated to constructing a wide-ranging platform for the development of international students. Additionally, they will continue to enhance cooperation with STC in fields such as training of professional talents, development of curricula, and training and exchange of faculty, Zhao said.

Sudarat Amonwet, the representative of international freshmen of 2023 cohort said that she will cherish her time in college and strive to enhance her Chinese language proficiency and professional skills in order to lay a solid foundation for her future career.

Wei issued the WIST emblems to the Thai students and signed a cooperation agreement on vocational education withThanasetthawong.


The students from Thailand enrolled in 2023 will study Modern Logistics Management at WIST. With the joint efforts of the education departments of China and Thailand, vocational colleges in both countries have contributed wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future and promoting closer ties between China and Thailand. WIST will comprehensively promote cooperation with Thai institutions, enrich the content of the cooperation, and strive to become a model for fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and Thailand in the field of vocational education.
